The Center for Health Assessment Research and Translation (CHART) at the University of Delaware ( is looking for a full-time research associate to assist our research faculty and scientists in carrying out grant-funded research projects. The Center aims to improve the quality of healthcare and quality of life for children and adults with chronic conditions by improving patient assessment tools and practices. In particular, our team of psychologists and psychometricians studies the science and practice of outcomes measurement. CHART is funded through grants from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research, the Department of Defense, and private foundations.

Major responsibilities include (as applicable to the projects assigned):

  1. Develop Study Procedures:
  2. Prepare/Assemble project briefing books
  3. Assist with creating Manuals of Procedures for specified projects
  4. Develop recruitment, recordkeeping, tracking, communication, and data collection procedures for studies as assigned
  5. Prepare and submit IRB applications, continuations, and amendments
  6. Preparation of Specifications and Testing of Data Management Systems:
  7. Assist in developing data collection platform (in REDCap, Assessment Center, or similar) for studies
  8. Data Management:
    1. Monitor subject accrual and report to study team members
    2. Develop and implement audit processes to review data quality and human subjects compliance
  9. Assist in Grant Preparation and Planning Including Writing Grant Text
  10. Conduct Patient Interviews
    1. Conduct phone interviews and/or in-person data collection, as appropriate
    2. Ensure standardized procedures are followed
  11. Code Qualitative Data from Human Subjects Interviews
  12. Assist in Writing and Preparing Manuscripts, Posters, Website Materials, and other Publications


  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in psychology or related field
  • Minimum of one year previous research experience
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to take direction and then work independently
  • Good facility with technology
