Faculty in the Department of Management and Organizations are accepting applications for a full-time lab manager position working with Dr. Sarah Townsend, Dr. Nate Fast, and Dr. Cheryl Wakslak starting summer 2018.


Under Dr. Townsend, the lab manager will oversee the Cultural Diversity and Psychophysiology Lab, which examines how people’s social and cultural backgrounds are both a source of and a solution to inequality. In addition, under Dr. Fast, the lab manager will help to coordinate the Hierarchy, Networks, and Technology Lab, which examines the psychological determinants and consequences of hierarchy, social networks, and emerging technologies. The lab manager will also support Dr. Wakslak’s research on distance, decision-making, and the micro-foundations of entrepreneurial success.


This position is ideal for college graduates who are interested in gaining meaningful research experience before pursuing graduate studies in psychology, organizational behavior, or related fields. The lab manager will gain experience with multiple methodologies, including laboratory-based experiments, internet-based surveys, field studies, and psychophysiological measurement.


Job Duties:


The lab manager will oversee day-to-day research being conducted, including general research project management, data collection in lab, field, and online environments, programming surveys (e.g., via Qualtrics), managing participant recruitment, creating/modifying IRB proposals, scoring cardiovascular data in preparation for analysis, revising/editing manuscripts, training and supervising undergraduate research assistants, and scheduling studies and research meetings.


Minimum Requirements: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, organizational behavior, or related field
  • Experience in running experiments with human participants
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage teams of undergraduate research assistants working on multiple projects
  • Experience using Microsoft office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to take initiative, be proactive, and work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and writing ability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills


Desirable Requirements:


  • Experience with collection of cardiovascular data
  • Experience with SPSS, Mindware, EPrime, DirectRT, Qualtrics, and/or other research software or coding
