The Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience (LCN) at Boston Children’s Hospital are dedicated to furthering our understanding of brain and cognitive development in children diagnosed with or at risk for various developmental disorders. Our multidisciplinary team of researchers brings together experts from a wide range of fields, including neuroscience, psychology, and education. In collaboration with clinical experts in fields such as developmental pediatrics and child neurology, we are working to expand our knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders. Through this collaborative and comprehensive approach, we aim to drive the science forward as rapidly as possible, so that we can translate what we learn into earlier identification, improved therapies, and better outcomes for children and families affected by developmental disorders. The Research Assistant will work primarily on a project that will examine biological markers associated with social functioning in school aged children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and with typical development. The project will compare electrophysiological and eye tracking measures to standard clinical assessments in a group of children who are participating at multiple time points. Responsibilities will include recruiting and scheduling participants, running experimental study sessions, administering EEG and eye-tracking measures, behaviorally assisting children on the autism spectrum during visits, coordinating collection of surveys from parents, as well as data entry and management. This project is part of a multisite project with regular, rigorous oversight and requires a high level of data integrity. The research assistant may also be responsible for coordinating and training research interns.
